Order Processing Charge if Minimum Order Amount Is Not Met

Hello,

I would like to know if this is possible. We can hire someone to write the code but would like to know if there are any limitations from Shopify that would prevent us from implementing this.

We would like to add an Order Processing Charge of $15 on orders that do not meet our $50 minimum order value. So if they have under $50 and go to checkout it automatically adds a product called "Order Processing Charge" with price of $15. If their cart total is $50 or more it does not add that product.

We have tried the app that is to set minimum order values but we would like people to still be able to order under $50 if they are willing to pay the $15 charge. We are b2b supplier and sometimes customers just need a low value item but need it urgently and are totally fine paying a surcharge to get it.
