Payment accepted in Switzerland?

Hey guys,

I am a Swiss citizen with a Swiss bank account and am in the planning stages to launch a store targeted at the United states only.

Are there going to be any complications regarding payments and the money arriving in my bank account which is Swiss?

Google isn't helping much there.. all help appreciated 🙂

Hey, @itsolidude!

You can choose which currency you want to use to accept payments on your Shopify store. To do this, go to Settings > General > Store Currency.

Keep in mind, if you receive an order using one currency, you will then need to contact our support to change the currency.

The currency you receive your payouts in is very much dependent on the payment gateway you choose to use to receive your payments. This guide has a list of payment gateways that are available for Switzerland. You can use one credit card gateway as well as Paypal and/or other alternatives.

What sort of products are you planning to sell?

I am aiming for home improvement. Stripe is what I keep getting recommended or authorize.net .

Stripe would be a good option. You should be fine with the home improvement category.

E.g;

- Tech-gadgets?

- Health & Beauty?

I would be able to answer that question if you were able to use Shopify Payments as I have a definitive list. Since you would need to use a third-party gateway, you will need to ask your payment gateway which products would be acceptable. If you search for the terms of service on their website, there is a good chance you will find the list there.
