Payment didn't get through to PayPal

Had an order come in to my shopify site but I hadn't setup PayPal yet.   

All the docs I read said that when I get PayPal setup, the order would process and money would be sent through.

When I made the connection to PayPal from Shopify, I received a "setup successful" message, indicating the account and password I provided worked.

Order was made on August 27th.  It is now September 2nd and still no payment shown on PayPal.

All logs show that the gateway connections from Shopify to PayPal were successful.

Can't reach support by phone, they deactivated the number, yet they say they're available 24 hours a day, but HOW???
