Payout issue

Payout issue

I’ve been opening the shopify app to see a notification that says, “Payouts are paused.” It goes on to say that there is an issue with my payout bank account and payouts will be paused until my back account details are updated, but when I click on the button it provides, I get sent to a page with a 404 Not Found. I assume this is because of a $1.98 transaction shopify attempted to take from my balance account which had no money in it at the time. On April 11th, I received the last notification on the failed payout but then April 14th I received my first payout. I assumed Shopify took the 1.98 out of that payout, because I stopped receiving notifications for it. To be safe, I still transferred 1.98 to my balance account but the money is still there. I had another order and it was said to be added to my April 14th payout, but I’ve yet to receive it. Very confused where my money is.

Hello @abelonde

This whole payouts pause/404 loop can definitely send you in circles. Shopify Payments pauses your payouts when the micro‑deposit verification fails (that $1.98 test charge), and until you confirm the bank details in your Shopify Payments settings, new funds just sit “pending” in your dashboard.

To fix this, I would recommend you:

  1. Use desktop Shopify (not the mobile app) and go to Settings → Payments → Manage Shopify Payments.
  2. Look for the verification prompt—there should be a field asking “How much did we deposit?” Enter the micro‑deposit amount from your bank statement.
  3. Once that’s accepted, the “Payouts paused” banner will disappear and all pending and future orders will be pushed out in the next payout cycle.
  4. If you don’t see the verification field, or the button still leads to a 404, open your browser’s dev tools and grab a screenshot of the broken link, then send it to Shopify Support with “Shopify Payments micro‑deposit verification link broken” in your subject line. They can nudge the correct verification page for you.
  5. Until you properly verify that deposit in Shopify Payments settings, any new orders are just pending. Once verified, you’ll see your missing funds roll out on the next scheduled payout.

it seems i’ve been able to make the error message go away by using the shopify desktop website to reprocess the payment. however, im not sure where this money came from, as the 1.98 is still in my shopify balance account. also, when can i expect the payout to come through?
