Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
For over two years my payouts were scheduled weekly and like clockwork would always happen. No problems at all!
Apparently Shopify has changed the way it processes payments now and I've had a few payouts happen here and there on random days and not on my scheduled time.
However, the problem is I've had over $15k in my Balance going on two weeks now that is not going to my payout. When I hit "view transaction" on my balance they all say "PENDING." I have reached out to support multiple times on this and have really gotten nowhere. What I get is:
"I have received a response from our team regarding your balance as per our Payouts team since Shopify Payments is now powered by multiple payment processors at once. You will now receive multiple payouts covering the same time period, as transactions processed by each processor will be paid out separately. While your existing payout schedule remains the same, payouts on transactions processed by additional processors currently can not be scheduled and will always be paid out two business days after the transaction took place. As a result, you may see funds transferred to your balance either twice a day or once a day, depending on the payment processor. However, please keep in mind that these transfers cannot be scheduled, and the timing will vary based on the processor handling the transaction."
Why would this new way of doing things keep payouts from happening for over a week, two weeks, etc? I rely on these payouts to pay for my goods, payments, etc and without the payouts it could crumble my business quickly if this isn't resolved. There's really no pressure on Shopify to figure it out as they've already taken out all their fees from my transactions so why would they be in a hurry to figure it out. Obviously, reaching out to customer support via chat isn't helping.
Does anyone have any advice? Numbers I could contact? Anything? Help!
I just noticed multiple other threads with this exact problem so I apologize for starting another. After reading through them it doesn't look good.
Has anyone ever gotten a resolution or help from a "Shopify Advisor" that may help me in this situation?
I've been having the same issue for a month. I've gotten an identical reply, which makes no sense at all. Nothing changed on my end and I have been receiving payouts on a weekly basis for years. If there are that many of us having this problem, there is obviously an issue with Shopify.
Their reasoning doesn't make sense. I finally received my large payout, but now it looks like it's happening again. I get random smaller payouts for order 2-3 days later, but I also don't get the full balance for some reason even though the large amount currently in my Balance has been there 4-5 days. Please make this make sense.
It was literally like clockwork for two years where the entire balance would be paid out weekly. Why did they change it?
That is exactly what is happening to me. They were paying small payouts on random days (I have had weekly payouts on Mondays since I stared with Shopify years ago) but they were holding a larger amount with transactions much older than the ones in the single transaction payouts. After spending hours on the chat forum, talking to 2 separate people, I was told they didn't know why it was happening and they would "escalate" my issue to higher ups. Nothing changed for days and then all of the sudden they paid out the balance on Monday. I thought it was fixed. Then it started happening again and they told me I had to submit a form and my driver's license. ???? The thing is that there are pages and pages and pages of people with this same issue, so they HAVE to already know about it. That is just as upsetting to me, why act like it is just my account that is having issues? Just TELL US WHAT IS GOING ON! And the icing to this cake-disaster? They are still charging my credit card for fees on transactions they are holding!
Yep, I thought it might be a one time glitch until I read the pages of folks having the same issue. There has to be a reason they hold larger amounts and payout smaller amounts to think they are going to pacify folks. I can already see I'm going to have the same thing happen again this week. I really only have a couple alternatives at this point if it keeps happening.
1. Close my Shopify store and rebuild everything on another site
2. Have all of my customers that have bulks orders pay by check so I can avoid waiting for payouts.
There is absolutely NO WAY they don't know what's going on. It has to be profitable for them or they are making more money by keeping large chunks of money in customer's accounts for longer periods or it wouldn't be happening. If I get one more of the same "Canned" response from an advisor I'm going to throw up. Seriously Shopify, fix this!!
I am considering leaving Shopify too. I had someone help me set this up because I'm getting technology challenged in my old age. This is a business I started for our adult autistic son when he was labeled unemployment after aging out of school. It is a LOT of work for me that is getting harder and harder for me to maintain and this issue with Shopify - holding the money, acting like it is a mystery and these little payouts - is making me lean towards finding another option. If it isn't resolved for good within the next week or two, I'm going to look into another platform.
It looks like things may have ironed out with my account as my next big balance is getting paid out. It's definitely frustrating as I have 4 payouts coming out. I liked it much better with the one payout on my scheduled date, but at least it's getting paid out.
They paid mine out too, but this is exactly what happened last time. I thought it was resolved and it started all over again. When I signed on just now to reply to your comment, I saw that YET AGAIN, they have scheduled a tiny deposit for Thursday. Not only is that not the day I selected for my WEEKLY deposits, they are holding back part of the payout. On top of all of that, I exchanged multiple emails with someone named Kait (after hours on chat with two representatives) only to have someone new write me and ask me to explain it all over again and submit the same documents I already submitted!! This whole thing is absolutely crazy.
