Hi, I am working on a site for a client of mine. We are trying to set up his paypal account, and it keeps looping him around the login screen. He'll log in and it will bring him to a screen asking if he wants to convert a personal account, log in to an existing business account, or create a new. When we select 'make a new business account' it brings him back to the login screen. Curious as to why it is doing that and if there is a fix that doesn't involve creating a whole new account with a new email adress? Thanks! There are 2 orders stuck in limbo currently so haste is appreciated!
Ren here from the Shopify support team, hoping to help out.
It sounds like you might be running into a browser related issue. My suggestion would be to try and clear your cache or use a different browser to login and try connecting from there. Also, make sure that you are attempting to connect a PayPal business account from the get-go (not a personal one), it's free to upgrade. If that doesn't work, I recommend trying on a different device entirely. Phone, tablet, another computer or laptop and see if that works for you.
Be sure to check back here to continue troubleshooting should the steps above not yield any positive results.
Hi we are experiencing the same issue. We have cleared cookies, changes browser, used incognito mode. It appears to be a common PayPal issue.
If the above steps didn't work, you may want to try deleting your old account and attempting to integrate a new one. This has been known to resolve the PayPal loop. Be sure to also check your new PayPal account for a button that will allow you to connect to Shopify.
If you'd like to try and connect your current account, try logging in to your Paypal Business Account and going to Tools (Up the top), then Business Setup. Scroll down and press "Offer Paypal checkout on your website". Choose Option A, and then follow their integration guide.
Hopefully this helps you get around the registration loop.
