Paypal: seems very expensive compared to transferring via web banks. Is Paypal the best option?

i was just going through all my costs over xmas and i'm fairly amazed about how much commission i have given Paypal for handling the payments.

I am a UK business that sells worldwide. 

Is there a cheaper payments handler out there?
