Has anyone had an issue where PayPal is charging your customer but the order is not coming in through your store. I had PayPal charge a cutomer 4 times but I only show 2 abandoned carts on my end.

This issue typically happens when PayPal is making a payment, but Shopify does not flag the order as it was either failed or incomplete checkout. Have a try:

  1. Verify PayPal Transactions – Go to your PayPal account and see if payments were made or pending/held. If they're pending, then they may not have arrived at Shopify.
  2. Look for Failed Checkouts – In Shopify, go to Orders > Abandoned Checkouts and see whether there are any failed transactions that match the customer's attempts.
  3. Check IPN Settings – PayPal sends Instant Payment Notifications (IPN) to enable communication with Shopify. If the IPN is set up incorrectly, payments might not sync correctly. Try enabling IPN again in your PayPal settings.
  4. Ask the Customer – If PayPal charged them but the order isn’t in Shopify, they may need to dispute the extra charges directly with PayPal.
  5. Contact Shopify & PayPal Support – If the issue persists, reach out to both platforms for assistance.

To prevent this in the future, consider switching to Shopify Payments for smoother order syncing! Hope this helps 🙂
