Physical Gift Cards in Australia

Hi all,

I am working with a new client in setting up their Shopify store and we are wanting to sell physical gift cards as well as a digital one. I know Shopify offer their own cards, which would be the ideal solution, but it looks like we cannot get access to them in Australia for some reason. Is there another solution that people have used before to either get the Shopify ones or an alternative that will be easy to use and maintain?

Nick here from Shopify. 

The physical gift cards aren't available in Australia but only the USA, Canada, UK, and Ireland. It would also have the following requirements: 

• Your store needs to be on the Shopify plan or higher.
• You need to enable physical gift cards in Shopify POS

You can see this in the helpful guide Shopify has for this here as well as the screenshot highlighting these aspects from the guide below:

The only other way you would be able to sell gift cards would be through third party gift cards. Shopify has a helpful guide for selling gift cards via third party's here which you might find useful

Did you get the answer for this - I am also trying to get physical gift cards in Australia. 

I just need to know what the barcode requirments are. 

Shopify has not been helpful in answering this.

Hi Neomi,

Rise.ai looks promising to do what I want, but from what I can tell the gift card creation feature is only available on the Pro plan and for a small business that doesn't have a lot of online sales at the moment we can't justify $119.99USD a month.

Did you have any joy with finding a gift card solution for the Australian market?  I also need to create the same feature, but struggling to find anything available that is a feasible solution without costing an arm and a leg!

We just created unique codes and are able to enter them into the POS Machine when issuing - cant scan them in but can manually enter code.

No, I didn't find a suitable solution. 

I ended up just setting up another product for the gift voucher with multiple variants for the different values and free postage. The store owner then creates the gift card and mails it out to the customer after they purchase it. It's a manual solution but they don't sell a lot of gift cards so it works for now.
