Print Shipping Address to Label

Hi All,

I'm currently migrating my store to Shopify! I'm in the UK

How do people print address labels for sticking to their packages for delivery?

On my current system I print the customer invoice to an A4 sheet which has an integrated label. The customer address is printed to a part of the sheet which is a 'peel off' label which I then stick to the package. Job done.

I can't find a way to replicate this on Shopify. In fact I can't find a way of printing out the address to a label at all really!

How is everyone printing their address labels?

I recommend checking out the Beginners Guide to E-commerce Shipping and Fulfillment to get you started. This covers everything you need to know from shipping strategies to insurance and tracking and more.

At this time, your best bet for printing shipping labels in the UK is going to be through a third-party app. Zenstores allows you to integrate with Royal Mail and print shipping labels seamlessly. If you happen to have carrier calculated shipping already, you can also use the Royal Mail Shipping Extension.

Finally, as far as printing goes, you can expedite that method by purchasing a DYMO label printer to quickly and easily print the labels you need for shipping.

These steps will get you going in the right direction! Let me know if you have any troubles implementing the above.

Thanks, but I'm not asking about 'shipping labels' with the shipping cost paid and included on the stamp.
I have a franking machine which prints the postage cost label but it doesnt include the address

I was simply asking about 'address' labels. Just a way of printing off the shipping address to a label to stick to the package.

Currently, on the store I am migrating from, I print off the invoice to a sheet of A4 which has an 'integrated label' for the address.
So I just peel that part off and stick it to the packeage and the rest of the invoice goes in with the package.

For anyone else looking to do this, I have discovered that using the 'order printer' app I can edit the template to put the shipping address field in the correct place so it prints on the integrated label. So I have solved the issue.

Hi, I installed the app 'order printer' and I am using that to print the orders. I adjusted the template code so that the shipping address is printed on the 'peel away' label on the paper. It all works for me ok.

Hey there, I am having the same issue. I have installed the order print app and i'm trying to print the address label on a dymo label writer 450. I cannot get the right format when trying to print for the size of my labels. Its driving me mad, I have searched all over the internet but nothing yet has helped.

My labels are the 30252 size address labels. Is anyone using these?

Thanks for reaching out. 

It sounds like you might need to adjust your label format in the Shopify admin before printing. Once you have purchased your label and before clicking "print shipping label" make sure you click Change Format under the Print Options on the top-right of the page:

This will open a new window that will allow you to switch between label formats so you can print accurately on your Dymo printer. 

That should do the trick! Let me know if I can clarify anything for you.

Can you help me?

I use a franking machine for my post and so I want to only do the following:

Bulk print packing slips / invoices  + shipping address on an integrated label. Peel the address of and put it on the envelope. Frank the envelope and post.

I have downloaded order print but can't seem to do this.

My problem was something in my settings. I’m sorry I can’t remember exactly where it was. I found it through trial and error. Unfortunately Shopify support was not helpful. I will let you know if I find it!

Bulk label printing is doable directly from your admin, no need to use the order printer app for the labels themselves. Here is an overview (including video) of how it's done. The steps are as follows: 

1. From the orders list, select up to 20 orders you’re ready to ship.
2. Preview each shipment, including the carrier, shipping service, and package. Adjust or fill in any missing information as needed.
3. Buy all of your shipping labels in one click, then print them as a single PDF.
4. Skip the line at the post office, and drop off all your orders at once.

As for packing slips and invoices, this is where the Order Printer app comes in. You can perform these actions in bulk (up to 50) by utilizing Bulk Actions in your Shopify admin.

Hi, similar to the original post, I am trying to figure out if it's possible print out address labels with my shop's return address in 4x6" format. Even better, could I buy postage and print labels to a segment of my customers?

This is different than when a customer makes a purchase! I understand how to purchase postage and print the shipping label as part of the order fulfillment process. I am trying to send value add items to a select group of my customers and want to print labels. It would be ideal if I could purchase postage and print the labels. Can I do this thru my store or do I need an app?

Thanks for reaching out! Based on your description, I believe you're right that an App would be the way to go. I find one that appears to fit the bill, it enables you to select and print multiple addresses which you should be able to configure by customer/type. 

Check out Super Address Labels from the app store. The nice thing about this app is that it enables you to create labels based on your own templates or you can select from some of the most popular brands like Dymo and Avery. They are also completely customizable including the ability to add elements such as barcodes. The app is only $4.99 and comes with a nice long trial of 21 days so you have ample time to test it out and see if it'll suit your needs.

Ah, interesting will check out this potential solution.

I did try another workaround - I went in to my customer list and selected
certain criteria, then exported as a .csv format file.

Then went in to Word and created labels via the mail merge feature. It was
a little clumsy, but it worked.

Wow, what a clever workaround, nice job figuring that out. Have you had a chance to try my solution above and did it work for you? The only other thing I might suggest is to attempt from a different browser all together. Chrome tends to be optimal with the platform and some other browsers might fall short. Let me know how that goes!

This isn't helpful - we are talking about UK shipping labels and UK users of Shopify dont seem to ahve the ability to benefit from being able to purchase label printing on shopify - again, this is not talking about shipping labels, but more for printing solely a customer's address onto a 'sticky label', in bulk.
