Problem paying with RBC Credit Card on Shopify Stores

Hello,

I am a Shopify seller, but also a frequent purchaser from other Shopify stores.

In the last couple of months, I've been unable to pay with my RBC Credit Card on any Shopify sites. My credit card is fine and works everywhere else, except when I check out on a Shopify site. It started about a month and a half ago when I tried to use this card to purchase something on a Shopify site. The payment did not go through and I got the message "Your payment could not be validated." I tried again, same message. I thought it was weird, but paid via PayPal and moved on.

Mid-January it happened again. Then today it happened twice. After the first declined payment, I called RBC to see if there was an issue with my card. I was told there was no issue at all with my card. I have a high limit and it is paid off in full monthly and no where near the limit. RBC looked at the declined transactions and told me that there was an issue with the way the CC expiry date had been inputted. I thought perhaps I had made a mistake. So I tried again with another Shopify store just now. I inputted all of the card information manually, including the expiry date as MM/YY. What the agent at RBC told me to do was to maybe try YY/MM to see if this would work, so my second attempt was to try this, but it didn't work. It didn't work with MM/YY or YY/MM. The transaction didn't work and again I used PayPal.

Otherwise, my card works just fine with all other online and in person purchases. I'm flummoxed as to why I am continuing to have this issue with only Shopify stores and I'm now starting to worry that maybe some of my own customers are having similar issues, but maybe haven't reached out to me about it.

Any light that can be shed on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Angela
