Query on how to build a token currency system on shopify

I'm interested in starting a Shopify website and want to integrate my own purchasable digital tokens specifically to be used in the store. I want a system where customers can pay using both these digital tokens and real currency. Is it possible to create an exchange system on the website for currency conversion to my own digital token system? What are the necessary tools I could use to make this happen? Are there any available APIs or plugins for making such a token based system?
