Quick Question... What is the "Requires shipping" option in bulk edit do?

I couldn't find an answer for this online. What change does the "Requires shipping" option do?

Those items over 30kg are available for pickup or will be shipped by a 3rd party via email notification. What would "Requires shipping" turned on, do for this?
What would happen if there is an item that is shipped by Canada Post 30kg or under, and I turn off "Requires shipping"?

Great question! That checkbox in the bulk edit screen turns on or off the need to collect shipping information from a customer at the checkout. If your product is digital and sent to the customer via email then it wouldn't require shipping and the customer could skip the shipping step at the checkout if their entire order is like that. 

 

Any products that do ship to customers or that require you to collect a shipping address will need to have that checkbox enabled.

This should be changed to a radio button - "Is this product physical or digital?"

Ah! Careful with assumptions! 

I don't think physical/digital are the only two options here. Eg. access to an event, charity donations, any kind of consulting or service.. All of those would not be digital and still would not require shipping.
