Hey all,

I'm helping a client launch their shop and I'm stuck at the shipping. They have the zones set, but it doesn't calculate at checkout.

Does anyone know of a helpful thread that refers to this? I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

They are not offering pickup, and only shipping through major carriers.

Here are some screenshots:

What other screenshots would be helpful?

Thank you!

This is an accepted solution.

Rule out the following

  • Double check the products are set to be physical products and thus eligible for shipping.
  • If using mock addresses try test with a valid address
  • Disable any special carrier apps
  • Disable any apps that may be creating draft order checkouts
  • Disable any apps that may be generating dynamic products that are then not in shipping profiles
  • If using subscriptions try without subscriptions

Those are some basics and from the screenshot you've avoided the $0.01 cent traps as well.

So if it's not those might need to contact support to dig through the store or fresh pair of eyes.

Genius! Your first bullet point did the trick. I bulk-edited on my Shopify backend which instantly solved my problem, but do you happen to know which column on the Shopify import spreadsheet would have prevented this so I can ensure it's enabled moving forward? (if there is such a column!)

Thanks so much!

Yeah it's confusingly named "Variant Requires Shipping" vs physical good in the admin.

Set "Variant Requires Shipping" to True to be physical

For future readers was the column empty? the shipping column for standard product csv when blank defaults to false

Or could you tell if the goods were actually marked physical already in the admin and this was a weird case of turning it on and off again?

Thanks.

Hi, @samantham!

Thanks for reaching out about this, looks like you've been getting the answers that you're looking for here – so great to see it!

In regards to your shipping query, for future references too I'd just like to add that if you have or are planning to add multiple locations to your store, it's also worthwhile to double check that the products on checkout are being stocked at a location that already have shipping rates attached to them. On your shipping settings' Manage rates tab, you'll be able to select a Shipping from location – this is where you can check to see if a location have shipping rates added to them already. If any one of your locations don't have shipping rates on them, they will show up on the very bottom of this page under the heading Not shipping from, and it will give you the option to add shipping rates to these locations.

With your CSV question, I thought I'd also highlight that we have a Help Centre document here that details more about CSV column headings and their descriptions. Feel free to keep that document handy if you plan to work on a few CSV product uploads!

Apart from your queries here, I hope things are on track and going smoothly for the launch of your client's online store! I used our launch checklist here when I launched my own online store, just to make sure that I'm not missing or forgetting anything. It might be worthwhile to keep that checklist nearby too, to double check that you have everything ready for a successful launch!

Let me know how you go with the information I've laid out above. I'd be happy to help if you have any other questions.

All the best!
