Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hello , I opened up an account with a free trial months ago and I forgot about the store because I was just messing around with it. Months later I receive a charge for 40 dollars for my subscription I was shocked and was frantic because It took away crucial money I need for my day to day life. If it is possible I would really like a refund
Hey, @Matthew48!
For some context, even if you do not log in or use the store – if you haven't deactivated it, you will still be charged monthly for the running subscription.
To cancel your store, go to Settings > Plan and click Cancel subscription or Pause or deactivate store. After reviewing the options, click Cancel subscription.
Select a reason for the deactivation, enter your password, and click Close store. Make sure you review the terms of service before proceeding, and save any store information you need by exporting CSV files. Once this has been processed you will no longer receive any charges going forward.
In regard to a refund, you can check this with our live support here at this page. Please create a support request asking for a refund. With that being said, refunds for Shopify are not guaranteed as per our terms of service here (section 5, point 10).

I haven’t been using the store and wasn’t able to cancel the plan(there wasn’t and option), and now i have to pay 40 dollars along with that my question is will it keep charging me? or will it give me time to pay it off.
Hey. @jeffmark!
Please note that as long as your store remains active, the subscription charges will continue, regardless of whether you are actively using the store or not. To close your store, you can follow the steps provided on this page. However, please be aware that if there is an outstanding invoice or if your Shopify subscription payment fails multiple times, your store will be frozen until the bill is settled. For more information on this matter, you can click on this link.
It might be the case that you're unable to deactivate the store until you pay the invoice due. Unfortunately, at the moment, we do not have an option to pay off the outstanding balance.
Is there any particular reason as to why you no longer wish to have your store? Was here something you were struggling with that you need help with? Let me know!
