Refund using paypal without funds

Hello

For legal reasons, paypal transfers all my balance to our bank account daily.

Sometimes, I issue a refund for an order paid with paypal (paypal or paypal as a CC gateway) and I have no balance to cover.

The refund remains pending in shopify, but I am not certain of what happens after, does paypal refund when balance is available? or does it remain as "pending" in shopify and paypal does not make the refund.

I have a sizeable order now that I made the refund via banck transfer because I had no balance in paypal to cover it, but now, I have the order as "paid and unfulfilled" in shopify. 

I want to refund the order in shopify so the order closes, but If I refund the order (without balance in paypal), I fear that paypal will refund once it has balance.
