Replace Check Out Feature With Order Request

Hi!

We are a print company creating a shopify store to showcase our highly custom products. We would like to allow our clients to "shop" our products but when they check out it will only send us an order request and not actually collect money for their sale. Basically we need to replace the "check out" option with "order request". Is this possible?

Hey, @Mae_Innovations!

This is Summer from the Social Care team at Shopify. Welcome to Shopify Community!

It is definitely possible for customers to send an order request for a product rather than immediately placing an order for it on the website. There are a couple of ways to go about this which I've outlined below.

First, you may replace the "Add to cart" button with a contact link. This will prevent customers from adding products to the cart and checking out, and it will prompt them to contact you about the product. Once you receive an inquiry and you're ready to process their order, you can then send the customer an invoice using a draft order. If you're interested in this kind of setup, you can customize your product page and follow this tutorial.

If you're using a Shopify theme, we may be able to provide some assistance in implementing the tutorial in your store. When you're on the Basic Shopify plan or higher, you can receive 60 minutes of complimentary design support that can be used for supported customizations. Feel free to visit https://bit.ly/3cJkx8V and log in to your account to create a support request for this if your store is eligible.

Second, you may use an app to add the ability for customers to request a quote. Apps such as Request a Quote and Globo Request a Quote will also replace the "Add to cart" button with a "Request a quote" button, but they allow the customers to check out and send the request as an order. They also have other advanced functionalities like the ability to hide the product prices. In case these apps don't suit your needs, you can browse other options on this page.

Apps differ in pricing and features so I recommend adding them to your store and testing them to see which one suits your business. If you have any concerns about the apps, feel free to reach out to their support team through the details on the Support section of the listing.

Since you're selling custom products, you may want to use an app that adds an option for customers to build products. This will elevate the customer experience in your store as it provides the ease of customizing products themselves. If you're interested, you can check out this one: Custom Product Builder.

I hope this helps! Should you have any other questions, don't hesitate to respond to this post.
