Dear Shopify support team,
I wanted to let you know that within our community of Shopify stores using the xConnector app in Romania — and beyond — merchants greatly appreciated the removal of the postal code requirement.
Unfortunately, the change only lasted for one day, and today we all noticed that the requirement to fill in the postal code has been reintroduced.
I'm writing on behalf of the stores using xConnector, and beyond, to let you know that:
For Romanian addresses, requiring a postal code makes the checkout process less user-friendly, leading to higher cart abandonment.
We kindly ask you to consider the following options:
a. Removing the postal code requirement, or
b. Automatically filling in the postal code based on the address.
You already have this feature in place when adding a new customer (see attached screen recording).
The same logic can be applied at checkout.
This small change would bring significant value to Romanian merchants, as buyers typically don’t know their postal codes and must search for them, which adds friction.
Moreover, if the city is auto-completed based on the postal code, it would help avoid orders with incorrect address information.
We kindly ask you to take these suggestions into consideration.
