Return UPS shipping error - "To get shipping rates, you need to fix the errors"

Outbound shipping for orders with UPS works fine, but we are unable to send return shipping labels.  

 

Under Shipping Service box, receiving the following error message:

"To get shipping rates, you need to fix the errors"

I'm sorry to hear you're encountering an error message while attempting to purchase a return label. This particular error happens when one of the parameters is incorrect and more often than not this is related to the weight or the dimensions of the package exceeding carrier limits. If this is the case, you will need to create a package size that fits within the available parameters for the carrier you use. For UPS their weight and size limits are the following:

 

  • Packages can be up to 150 lbs of dimensional weight but not over
  • Packages can be up to 165 inches in length + girth combined but not over
  • Packages can be up to 108 inches in length but not over
  • Packages with a large size-to-weight ratio require special pricing and dimensional weight calculations

 

If you have questions about the limits, you may contact UPS.

 

If your packaging weight or dimensions are within UPS' limits the error may be caused by your locations, as this particular error message may also appear if you have an unsaved location on the Locations page in the admin. If the error message appears with no reference to any carriers, please head to Settings > Locations and ensure that all locations are saved.
