Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi,
I need some help with my store.
My product cannot be shipped as it is a food item and the presentation would be damaged - Therefore i am looking to work with local shops across the US and have them fulfill my orders as they come in (similar to 1-800-flowers business model)
That being said, I need to find a way to allocate each order and send them automatically to our local partner partners based on the delivery zip code entered by the customer. Also, I would need to add a radius so that if someone orders for delivery in the LA area, it doesn’t let the customer enter a zip code that is more than 25miles away from the actual shop fulfilling the order.
Hope someone can help ! Thank you for your time
Once you've handed the order (or item) off to the partner how do they tell you it's been shipped? That's a question that needs more context before be able to give some advice here.
Hi Ben,
Sounds like you could treat the local locations like fulfillment centers or locations. How many products do you have? Sounds like ideally, you'd geolocate someone before they come to your store, show them the closest location, and let them make the decision to purchase? Do your local partners offer delivery, or just pickup? Check out this app.

ShopClerk Order Tracking for Shopify
Hi Todd,
and thank you for your help.
I actually just started using Zapiet - Only thing is Zapiet does not AUTOMATICALLY allocate order or send it to local partner based on zip code entered by customer. It only shows customer is we do can deliver or not in that area. The customer is not the one receiving the order either as we are in the gift business.
This is what we would need:
1. Customer gets to website, enter delivery zip code right away
2. Automatically Show the partner shop which will deliver the service OR error message if zip code entered isn’t covered by one of our partner/fulfillment shops
3. AUTOMATICALLY Send an email to the partner shop to deliver the product once order is confirmed and paid for.
Does it make more sense?
Hello there,
Im having exactly the same issue. Is there any solution to this?
My app Location Based Fulfillment https://apps.shopify.com/location-based-fulfillment might be able to help.
It allows you to create rules to change the fulfillment location of an order based on the shipping address.
Check it out and let me know if you have any questions
Thanks
I tested it but there is no ZIP-based rules.
It doesnt help
Thanks
Hi,
I've just updated the app to support ZIP based rules, please check it out again and let me know if you have any questions
Thanks
We're looking for an app that will allow us to automatically choose a fulfillment location for an ecom order based on:
1. inventory availability
2. fulfillment location's proximity to shipping address
We are experimenting with having stores as fulfillment centers and want to automatically route ecom orders to a store if it's closer to where the order is being shipped and has inventory in stock. Any suggestions on apps that could help with this?
We are also looking for a solution for this. Any update?
Guys Any update, Any app Please let us know on priority basis
Bump
For coders who are looking for a starting point on how to do this based on the state/province of the shipping address, here is some example code which may help get you started: https://gist.github.com/rattrayalex/65e138833687625dd480f658a29fe0ee
Hi Ben,
Thank you for the additional details. That's an interesting situation...
I don't see a way to do exactly what you want with apps. You'd defintely want people to find out as soon as possible if their gift recipient is in a delivery zone.
It sounds like that would be some custom work which may not be trivial. I can think of a few ways to approach it, and a lot would depend on how technical you are, for ongoing upkeep (like updating zip codes, etc.)
How do you have the local fulfillment locations set up right now in Shopify?
Todd
All that said, check out this app, which could maybe work for you. Have you seen it?
https://apps.shopify.com/product-zipcode-validator - It gets mixed reviews.
