Shipping Address for In-store Pickup Orders

Hello,

Our brick and mortar store uses a POS (Heartland Retail, previously was called 'Springboard Retail') that offers a paid inventory management/integration app for Shopify. The app synchronizes Shopify orders with our physical store's point of sale and keeps inventory with the physical store and Shopify store in sync.

Unfortunately, there is a comparability issue that Heartland is unable to resolve and it causes inventory management problems for us.

The problem occurs when a customer checks out in Shopify with 'In-store Pickup" as the shipping option. The Heartland Retail POS requires a shipping address in order to "understand' orders that get sent from Shopify. Since pickup orders in Shopify do not have a shipping address, Heartland Retail does not know how to accept the order and the sync will not complete for that specific order. This causes our inventory to not update correctly which leads to other issues.

The current and only fix for this problem is to simply add a placeholder or 'dummy' address to the order after it has been placed. Once a shipping address is added, the app picks up the order and sync's it back to the POS.

I'm wondering if there is any way to automate the adding of a shipping address to an in-store pickup order. Perhaps an app that I am not aware of could help.

Thanks!

I also use Heartland x Shopify! I'd been interested to know if you were able to work this out!

Nope! It's still manual process for us that we have to remember to do.

Are you able to use the new in-store pickup feature on Shopify? I can't figure out how to make it work, since the sku's need to be set to "Heartland tracks inventory." Any tips would be much-appreciated!

Hi,

I'm not sure I'm following.  We have used Shopify's local pickup feature with Heartland Retail for about a year and it works well for our business.

Looking at it, I'm not sure how SKUs would affect the functionality of local pickup.

Of course Heartland won't complete the order until the order has been marked as fulfilled in Shopify, but that's the same behavior we have with normal shipping orders as well.

Thanks for getting back to me! I have my SKU's set up to "Heartland Fulfills" and "Heartland Tracks Inventory"--how is yours set up? Basically, this seems to be telling Shopify that my inventory is at a different location (Heartland) and my store location is "empty."

this is happening to us too. I was so excited to use the Shopify pick up in store option; but because heartland tracks my inventory, for customers it says in store pick up is not available. in the meantime, one of my shipping options during check out is in store pick up for $0 and then the rest of my shipping charges. But SO many non local customers choose pick up in store and then I have to track them down to pay for shipping. It is a nightmare. We have it synced saying "springboard retail" I wonder if I delete it and re install it as "heartland retail" that will help? Would love any advice!
