Shipping Advice Needed

Hello! 

There are 3 different shipping scenarios that I could encounter based on the products I sell:

1.  One or multiple items that fit into one small box; or

2. One or multiple items that fit into one mailing tube (26" long); or 

3. One item in a mailing tube, with other items fitting only in a box (since they are too large to place in the tube). In this scenario, one order may require to be sent in 2 separate packages. 

Curious to know how others might handle and set up shipping for this type of situation. Any and all advice, thought, or comments are welcome. Thank you!!!!!

I'd be happy to share my two cents with you and hopefully get a few ideas going. The first scenario is to use Shopify's built-in Shipping Profiles which will allow you to set up product-specific shipping rates. That means you can account for the various package sizes and typical rates that apply to each product, and when combined those rates will also combine evening out.

The other scenario is to use very specific shipping rate calculation through a third party app option such as Boxify. This app accounts for a variety of box shapes and sizes and will ultimately achieve the results you are expecting. 

I assume other merchants are using a combination of the above options and there are others that even increase their product prices to account for and offer free shipping - in fact, our market studies have shown this typically results in higher conversion rates too.
