I was wondering if you could help...

 

On our website, we wish to have In-Store Pickup available as well as shipping but only for certain products. 

 

In other words, near the Christmas period, we'd like it so Christmas items can be picked up in store but they can also be shipped out to a customer, depending on which option they pick. These items are marked by a tag but I can select them manually quite easily as there are only 3 of them in a website selling 7 products. I can set this up for all items but I'm struggling to get this to work for Christmas-items only. 

 

Is there a way of doing this, ideally using Shopfiy's built-in functions?

Hi Glenn!
One approach is to create a custom shipping profile for your Christmas products. Here's a quick way to set it up:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping and delivery in your Shopify admin.
  2. Scroll down to Custom shipping rates and click Create new profile.
  3. Add your Christmas items to this profile by selecting them manually.
  4. Set up your shipping zones and rates, and make sure to enable the Local Pickup option under Locations.

This way, only those Christmas products will have the in-store pickup and shipping options available. The rest of your products will follow the default settings.

If you need more control or have specific conditions, apps like "Advanced Shipping Rules" can provide additional flexibility.

Hi @glennwright - Presently Shopify doesn't support a mixed cart, i.e. having store-pickup and home delivery items in the same order. This will need a third-party app to be taken care of.

You can do this in our app Starshipit, using our automation rules. Here's how you'd do it:

  1. Enable In-Store Pickup:

    • Go to Settings > Couriers > Add a new courier.
    • Navigate to Other and select Pick up in store.
    • Click Enable Pickup In Store.
    • Hit Save.
  2. Set Up a Rule to Assign the 'Pick up in-store' Option:

    • Go to Settings > Rules.
    • Click Add a new rule.
    • Enter the parameters for the rule:
      • Condition: Item Tag is Christmas-item (or the specific tag you use).
      • Action: Set Carrier to Pick up in store.
    • Click Save.
  3. Set Up Shipping for the Same Items:

    • Create another rule to ensure these items can also be shipped.
    • Go to Settings > Rules.
    • Click Add a new rule.
    • Enter the parameters for the rule:
      • Condition: Item Tag is Christmas-item.
      • Action: Set Carrier to your preferred shipping carrier.
    • Click Save.
