Shipping Charges apps not using CCS

I have been installing and uninstalling apps to calculate shipping charges. We are on the basic Shopify plan and cannot afford to take out a subscription of the plans that allow installing and paying for the Carrier Calculated Shipping app. 

Can anyone recommend a Shipping app to calculate our own shipping charges (not using any third-party carriers). Ideally with some bells and whistles, if possible by zip code and volumetrics.

The unfortunate thing is that only when installing an app it mentions that CCS has to be installed. App Developers, please highlight this in the first line of your description!!!!!

This app allows you to set up custom shipping rates based on zip codes, weights, and order value—so you can tailor everything to your own shipping needs without relying on third-party carriers. It’s perfect for creating flexible shipping rules, especially if you're handling your own deliveries.

It's user-friendly and must be easy to set up. You can group your zip codes into different zones (with one set of rates each), for example, areas around your store, the rest of the town, suburbs, and the rest of the state. Moreover, if you need to cover bigger areas, you can use partial zip code match method. You will need to specify only the first characters of the zip codes, and anything that starts with that combination will be accepted by the app. For example, to include several counties, you can just add "100" to the list of eligible codes, and all the customers with the zip codes 10001, 10002, 10003, ..., 10099 will be able to get the shipping rate.
