Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi there,
Would appreciate some help and guidance, I'm fairly new to Shopify and have setup https://shaascollections.com
I've created a Shipping Profile and added weight-based shipping costs. Currently, there's only 1 active Shipping Profile for all my products. When I add the product in the cart and go to the checkout page the shipping cost doesn't match with the one I set up. For eg: Here's a sample product: https://shaascollections.com/products/designer-grand-threadwork-saree?variant=47154028249410
The weight of the product on the product setup page is 0.575 Kg.
When I checkout with this product I see RM11.50 as the shipping cost for this product instead of RM9.
Here's the Shipping & Delivery setting page
The same issue can be replicated with multiple products of different weight. Eg: https://shaascollections.com/products/sale-bagh-printed-maheswari-silkcotton-saree-1?variant=4717426... The weight of this product is set as 0.23 Kg and the shipping cost should be RM8 but on the checkout it shows RM9.
Currently shipping everywhere in Malaysia
Thank you for your help!

Ok, so I figured out the issue. I had added 0.5kg weight as an empty package weight under "Saved Packages".
So whenever a product was added to the cart it was also adding the empty weight of the package to the calculation which means if the product weight was 0.4kg, the system was adding 0.5kg empty package weight by default. This meant that the total weight of the package was now 0.9kg thereby pushing the shipping cost to the next tier and charging a higher amount.
Hmm this is strange. Your setup seems to be correct. I can only think of one possibility. You are seeing cached rates. Did you try to test with different details on the checkout page?
I tested it on different browsers and incognito modes as well, unfortunately it's still the same.

I have the opposite issue! It is NOT adding the empty package weight to my orders and I'm at risk of losing money on overseas orders where little difference in weight makes a big difference in price.
Thanks for posting all your details I'll go through this and see if I can change things in my settings to make it work.
Before I lose my mind!
