Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi everyone wish you are doing well.
I want to ask anybody who is using Shopify shipping charges per weight.
So example for each 1K.G charges will be 10$. I want users who is using this method to give me their feedback about it, does it gives accurate results, are customers comfortable and loves this, is this a good practice?
Thanks all
Shopify’s weight-based shipping works well if your product weights are accurately set and your shipping carrier calculates costs reliably. However, some users find discrepancies due to packaging weight or carrier rate fluctuations. Customers generally prefer transparent shipping costs, but if they feel overcharged, it could impact conversions. A good practice is to test rates with different orders and consider offering free shipping thresholds or flat-rate options for a smoother experience.
Hey @TareqDabaan ,
I see what you're going for with the weight-based shipping setup ($10 per kg). It can work well in certain cases, but it really depends on what you're shipping.
If your orders usually have smaller total weights, this method can be pretty reliable since carrier rates tend to be in a similar range. For example, FedEx rates can vary between $7 to $12 per kg (after standard discounts), so you'd likely end up with a decent balance.
But if you're dealing with heavier shipments, this approach might not be ideal. You could end up charging way more than what the carrier actually costs, which might put off potential customers and impact your sales.
So, it really depends on your product weight range and customer expectations.
Hope that helps! Would love to hear what kind of products you're shipping.
I created this rule, but when i am testing it Shopify is interpreting it as one fixed rate of AED 1.60 for any order with a weight between 1 kg and 200 kg. This is not my requirement, i want the cost to be 1.60 AED per KG
