Shipping physical and not physical on same order

When customers are adding physical and not physical products to their cart, shipping is being calculated on both. I have marked the non physical items as “This is not a physical product” and have also set up a shipping rate profile for the physical products. Pretty new to Shopify so not sure how to correct this.

Would you be able to tell me which products you're testing along with your store URL? I'd like to troubleshoot this for you.

 

As for the non-physical product, do you have an application linked to its set up such as Digital Download? 

 

Please provide more context and I'll gladly investigate this for you.

I haven’t used the digital download function but would love to learn more. I sell online classes so at the moment I email the customer with a you tube link or Zoom link, along with preparation instructions for the class. Not sure if I can do this as a digital download?

With those two product links, I went ahead and added them both the my cart and, as I went to checkout, the only shipping option available to me was Local Pickup. Considering my address is in Canada, there's likely some adjustments we can make to your shipping settings. 

 

Can you send me a screenshot of the shipping zones and rates you have set up? We can start with assessing the physical products first then head to the non-physical ones.

 

As for Digital Downloads, the application is free and quite simple to work with. It allows you to add a file attachment to a product in your shop. This means that once the non-physical product is purchased, your customer will automatically receive a download file link when the order is complete. My thought on how this could work for your business would be to have a PDF or doc/sheet that includes instructions for the class along with the zoom link - provided that this link remains the same everytime session.

Sorry for the delayed reply. It’s been a busy week.

Thank you for helping me with this.

I have three lots of rates set up, and have found it confusing.

Here is what I would like to happen if possible.

Three tiers of pricing for physical products depending on order value of those products as these fit with the actual size of the item rather than weight.

I am only able to ship to the UK and Isle of Man at the moment.

All classes, workshops and video tutorials will be free as no shipping involved.

If a customer’s order contains a mix of products, then can the shipping ignore the non physical items and just total up the rest then apply the relevant shipping rate on the total?

I have attached screenshots of my current rates. I did have all my non physical items marked as that initially but as that didn’t calculate correct shipping, I changed them to free shipping. But that didn’t work either 😢

Hi @Holly - I am having the same issue as @Bernie25 Bernie25 outlines above and below. 

 

Were you able to find a solution for them that does not involve Digital Downloads or other apps?
