Shipping Rate description doesn't show for customers with saved payment method

When a customer reaches the Shipping step at checkout, they see the shipping rates from the CarrierService API, including the description:

However, if the customer has a saved payment method, the description doesn't show:

Is there a way to have the description show up in all scenarios?

Interesting, are you creating the description with a script, or is the carrier generating that description?

 

The carrier generated descriptions seem to be working in both accelerated and standard shipping rates in my stores.

I'm returning the description in the CarrierService API response:

We are having this same issue. Why would part of the API provided for shipping carrier responses be excluded from Shop Pay and other accelerated checkouts? We built out some of our CarrierService response to rely on that required description field and now part of the relevant information our customers expect is not included in certain checkout flows.
