Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi,
I'm planning to transfer the ownership of my shop to a staff member. My question is what happens the already activated payment methods (e.g. paypal, stripe). Will they work also after the transfer or do I have to set up new payments?
Hi, @bodaster. I'm happy to help you out with this! Will you still be a part of this business once you transfer store ownership?
When you transfer store ownership the payment methods you've activated will remain active with the settings that are currently set up. This means that any payments from customers will still be paid out to the connected account. In addition, any Shopify bills would continue to be charged to the payment method set up on the Settings > Billing page in the Shopify admin. We recommend that the new owner updates this billing information and any payment providers or payment gateways set up as soon as they can, after the transfer has been completed. If the store has Shopify Payments set up the new owner would need to contact our support team here so we can update the existing Shopify Payments details to the details of the new owner. If you have a different payment provider or payment gateway set up, it's best to contact them directly to make sure everything is set up correctly going forward.
When you're ready you can find the steps to transfer ownership to a staff member here. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!
