Shopify Payment for Unregistered business

Hi there, I have been looking for a global payment method that I could integrate to my store that would not require a registered business name. I'm just starting and i plan to start small and grow with time. But i've being searching for that payment method that gives me the chance. Anyone with a solution?

Using Shopify does not require you to have a registered business name. Shopify enables individuals to easily create and manage an online store without the need for a registered business name.

Regarding Payment gateways, most payment providers may require some type of verification. As you're based in Nigeria, I'd recommend checking out the payment providers for Nigeria on our list here if you haven't already!

There are a couple of payment providers on that list which are supported to use with Shopify. I did some research for you and while some do need business registration, here are a few below that may not need them, but it is best to check with them directly as it is not clear.

- Paynamics

- Flutterwave

- Oceanpayment

- Onerway

- Paygate

Hello, I am currently trying to launch my Shopify  store from India. As you mentioned about the common issue of finding a payment processor that I could use to get my store ready to go. Kindly help me find one as I have tried every possible payment processor that I could. But they all require some sort of proof of registration of the business even as sole proprietorship. Kindly help thank you

Did you check all the payment providers mentioned on this list here? You need to scroll down to 'Payment information by country or region' and type your region into the search bar.

As mentioned above on this thread, many payment providers typically mandate a verification process to confirm the identity and authenticity of the businesses they engage with, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. This verification often involves submitting business registration documents to validate the legal establishment and operation of the business within the relevant laws.

We wouldn't be able to recommend any other payment gateways other than what's on the above page and that already has an integration with Shopify. If you have done your due diligence and contacted them about this, then the next logical step here would be to try and register your business in some way.
