Shopify Payment isn't available to me even though i live in the U.S., why?

So I have finished my website and I've set up Pay Pal as my payment option, but it won't let me set up Shopify Payments. I have friends who live in the same city as me who use Shopify for their online business and they have Shopify Payments available for them, so why isn't it available for me?

In the interim, it's great to hear you've already managed to set up your PayPal account. You're certainly on your way to making some sales. If you're new to Shopify (or even if you're not), I'd recommend checking out Shopify Compass (https://bit.ly/2LyfedE). Shopify Compass is a free program that provides you with webinars and courses on things like store design, marketing and more. It was launched earlier this year and has been a success for lots of merchants.
