Shopify has automatically switched my payment capture method from manual to automatic and now when I refund people they keep the fee they charged me for the payment this is ridiculous I always captured my payments manually to prevent this starting to hate Shopify and it’s many unnecessary fees. Searching for a new payment processor soon

That sounds really frustrating you’re definitely not alone in feeling this. Shopify recently updated their refund policy where they no longer refund processing fees, and if your payment capture was switched to automatic without your consent, that’s even more unfair. You can change it back under Settings > Payments > Payment Capture (set it to Manual). I’d also recommend contacting support to push back especially if this change wasn’t initiated by you. Hopefully, Shopify will consider more flexible policies again.

Hi @Devinir, Thanks for posting.

 

Shopify has recently changed its policy regarding payment capture.

1) GO to settings and in payments go to manage. Under Payment authorisation, select “Manually capture payment for orders”.

2) Raise a Ticket to Shopify support

3) If Shopify payment is no longer supported you can consider interagting Stripe, Paypal and Third party apps.
