Shopify Payments on Hold

I've now spend a week contacting support with regards to a notification message saying...."Your Shopify Payments account is on hold. Your store can't accept new orders with Shopify Payments. Contact Shopify Support for next steps."   The problem is..............nothing is happening and I can't launch my store.

This seems to be standard from my research as I've spent this week researching and Googling Shopify and am rather shocked at what I've found but that is not the basis for my message.

I now have 2 escalated tickets 50621493 & 50680918

I need Shopify Payments as I need to my customers to be able to pay in their own currency. I have a legal business in my country, I have submitted the tax ID which says they have verified it on VIES.  I'm only selling POD and can't see the issue at all. I'm getting annoyed at being told, I am going to get "an e-mail", I even had one support person say "IF you get an e-mail". What do the mean IF?

As no external payment provider can actually have a customer pay in their own currency (they can only see in their currency), it makes my business dead. Apart from Shopify charging 2% on top of the fees that an external processor would charge.  I am currently in the process of looking into WooCommerce which at least gives me more control.

I just thought that Shopify being so big, that they would have the capacity to easily deal with these matters.

Sounds promising.  I've spent the whole day on ChatGPT researching and tomorrow, I'm going to start building on a new platform.  Shopify need to improve their support, be timely and have a phone line. It's not good enough to do this to people.  Too many people are having their accounts on hold. Luckily I did not launch but some people are having their money withheld.  That's not fair.

I’m also having the same problem! Except we have had a website via Shopify for 3.5 years and now all of a sudden it is holding our payments.

out of curiosity, what platform are you moving to?

I'm looking at BigCommerce.  Much better value for money. You can have 3 or 4 storefronts for the same amount as 1 with Shopify.

Shopify said today its KYC and they have a big volume at the moment but it that was the case why not do what other platforms do and request the documents automatically through the App instead of a manual process. It's just not good enough for a company the size of Shopify.
