Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi everyone,
I'm using Shopify Shipping to ship orders across the US. I've enabled carrier-calculated rates (Shopify's Shipping discounted rates). I've chosen only UPS, the basic one: UPS Groung.
However, I noticed the rates it calculates are much higher than the ones I can get in my UPS account.
Example:
Ship from: 3641 Old Conejo Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320
Ship to: 142 Westhampton Dr. Wilmington DE 19808
The box dimensions are 27x20x15 (length, width, and height). When empty, it weighs 0.1 lb. This box is set as default to calculate shipping rates at checkout.
The total order's weight is 20 lb.
Shopify Shipping offers me $67.71 for UPS Ground.
My own UPS account offers me $33.93 for UPS Ground.
Please kindly note I have a basic business account in UPS for my company. No pre-negotiated discounts.
The issue is that I'm not able right now to switch to a "Shopify" plan and pay yearly to enable third-party calculated rates and connect my UPS account. Also, from what I see, from recent times it can't be added as an additional feature to the "Shopify" plan if you are not ready to pay yearly: https://community.shopify.com/c/payments-shipping-and/ccs-in-shopify-plan-with-additional-charge/td-...
My question is why the rates from Shopify Shipping are much higher than the ones I have in my own UPS account.
I tried different destinations and order weights. The result is always the same. The same works if I try to enable USPS. Rates provided by Shopify are much higher than the ones I see in my USPS account.
Thanks!
