My business is situated in South Africa. Shopify payments isn't supported in South Africa so I need to use a third party payment gateway. Does the $5 starter plan allow me to integrate a South African Third Party payment gateway?

Hi there, @Johannes12.

Yes indeed, third-party payment gateways can be used with our Shopify Starter plan.  The starter plan is ideal users who have built their audience on social media platforms, messaging apps, or other creator/influencer-friendly platforms like Twitch or Spotify: i.e: social sellersInstead of relying on an online storefront or homepage, social sellers tend to market and sell through social channels and messaging apps. The Starter plan aligns itself with your business by making it easy for you to share and sell your products on the platforms where you spend most of your time.

When using a third-party gateway with Shopify Starter, the transaction fees per purchase are 5%. You can read more on the features of the starter plan, and the fees etc right here if you wish. As for which gateways are supported for you in South Africa - you can read a full list of our supported gateways right here.
I hope this helps to clarify things for you!

So what you're saying is that even though Shopify payments isn't available in South Africa, and therefore isn't an option for us, we would still need to pay the additional 5% transaction fee even though we have no choice but to select a 3rd party payment provider? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi. We are also having this issue. We have registered with paystack but when trying to integrate this to the Shopify starter plan, it says you must have at least the basic plan to use the payment provider.  Could we have a list of payment providers specifically for the starter plan? Or should this be added via apps instead of payment settings?
