Hi all, I using Authorize.net as a 3rd party payment provider for my shop. I need to find a way to wire up monthly subscriptions as an option on the product details screen. Has anyone done this before or have any advice on setting it up?
I am a developer, so I could try and get my hands dirty to wire this up. But I am new to Shopify in general, so I wanted to check to see if anyone else has set this up before I take the dive.
Thanks
Hi @exit2,
Nick here from Shopify.
The best way to set up a monthly subscription plan through Shopify would be via an app. It's not a feature native to the platform right now but there are several different apps from the Shopify App Store which you could look into helping you with this. Let's take a look at some of them below:
You mentioned about possibly setting this up yourself. This is something I wouldn't be overly familiar with personally, but I feel it could be quite complicated. It could be worth touching base with a Shopify Expert or one of the app developers above to get some advice on where to start if you really wanted to go down this route.
All the best, Nick

@ChrisRak it seems your comment is no longer valid. Your app is not working on Shopify with Authorize.net.
Make sure to update the community.
Are there ANY subscription APPS currently available for stores that are NOT using Shopify payments???
Hi @TheEcommager,
You can see the full list of subscription apps in the Shopify App Store here. These apps are developed by third party developers and wouldn't require you to be using Shopify Payments to avail of them.

I was just told by paywhirl support that the only way to use subscriptions is through shopify payments.
We currently use authorize.net and i cannot get it to work.
Hello, we are also trying to set up Authorize.net for recurring payments in Shopify, anyone had any luck with this?
It's just not possible. Shopify pulled the capability and you are stuck with shopify payments until they fix it later this year.
I reached out to 4 or 5 developers who specialize in shopify along with a few subscription services. They all told me the same thing. Not possible. 😞
