I tested the online store with my iPhone and iPad. I attempted all of the following troubleshooting solutions below:

“If the Apple Pay button is not appearing in your checkout, there are several potential reasons to consider:

  1. Payment Processor Requirements: If you are using Cybersource, Authorize.net, or First Data Payeezy, you need to ensure that your payment processor has enabled network tokenization. If you are using Stripe, make sure you have accepted the Terms of Service specific to Apple Pay from your Stripe dashboard.
  2. Checkout Settings: The Apple Pay button may not display if the Company name field is set as required in your checkout settings. You can check this in your Shopify admin t under Settings > Checkout.
  3. Buy Button Sales Channel: If your customer is using the Buy Button to pay for their order, Apple Pay is not supported in this sales channel.
  4. Cart Drawer Issues: If you have a cart drawer or pop-up on your online store, the Apple Pay button might not be visible. You can add JavaScript to your theme to ensure that the button displays in your cart drawer.
  5. Device Compatibility: Ensure that the device being used supports Apple Pay and that it is set up correctly. For example, if using a supported Apple laptop, the lid should be open for the Apple Pay button to be responsive.

To troubleshoot further, review the requirements for using Apple Pay. and ensure all settings are correctly configured.”

Here are some other things to check, in order to troubleshoot this situation further:

  • Something else worth checking is to make sure that your Shopify Payments account is fully operational and in good standing. If there are issues with your account such as incomplete verification or payments on hold, then you should see warning messages in your Shopify admin.
  • Also, make sure the customer accounts setting on your store is not set to required. You will see this if you navigate to Settings > Checkout - there you can ensure the 'Require the customer to log in to their account before checkout' checkbox is not enabled. On this same page, make sure 'Company name' is also not set to Required - this should be set to 'Optional' or 'Don't Include' in order to use Apple Pay.
  • Are you using a custom domain on your store, and is it set up and functioning correctly?
  • Have you made sure to disable the password page on your store, so that the storefront is fully accessible to customers?
  • Are you using a cart drawer on your store theme? This is a cart that pulls out from the side or top of the store, or a pop up cart. This may lead to not seeing the Apple Pay button correctly in certain situations.
  • Do you have any subscription apps installed on your store? Some apps will not allow accelerated checkouts to be used for subscriptions.”
