Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
With the new paypal wallet migration,
My personal name is showing up as
"authorized payment to", "payment sent to" and "seller information" within paypal order conformation emails, and on paypal transaction history in dashboard.
can anyone replicate this? and how do i remove my legal name and have it replaced with business name?
Seems like this would be confusing for paying customers.
I have the same issue. My customer reached out to me after she placed an order and paid via PayPal wallet. She sent me a screenshot and it shows my legal name on the transaction instead of merchant name. This is not good and Shopify need to resolve this issue asap. This will create a high chance of disputing if customers don't recognize the charges.
I am having the same issue. They shouldn't be able to mess up payments like this. This stuff is mission critical.
My customer got an email saying that I updated the total amount of the transaction. Trying to figure out what happened but it's using my personal name instead of the business name and it makes it sound like I went in and adjusted the bill up after he completed checkout.
I was just informed of this issue as well and the customer provided a screenshot. They initially reached out to me to make sure the sale was legit because of the different name. This will absolutely hurt sales unless it is fixed but I cannot find a setting to change this. Hopefully someone at Shopify will respond…
I reached out to support on 10/30. The request has been forwarded to shopify developers. Still waiting on a update from them.
I spoke to a Shopify agent last Friday, and they escalated the case and said they would get back to me. 😞 Still waiting.
In the meantime, I have removed the PayPal option from my website for now until this gets resolved. It's not worth the headache of dealing with customers disputing the charge if they don't recognize it.
I'm having the same issue. Shopify doesn't know why this is happening and PayPal says it's not them even though the email to the customer says from Paypal.com. I have a case going on this but they don't know anything yet. Meanwhile, customers are emailing me that it looks suspicious.
The transactions are not associated with our PayPal accounts so PayPal cannot do anything about the name. They are processed through a Shopify PayPal account and then Shopify pays us with its regular payouts as if they just pay with a credit card or shop pay.
Basically the issue is with the data between Shopify and PayPal. Shopify is giving PayPal our individual legal name to use as the merchant name. I believe this is 100% Shopify's fault and honestly, shame on them for not figuring this out before pushing the integration on us and not giving us any options. I would be happy to go back to PayPal Express Checkout but they can't do that so the options are 1) Confuse your customers with the name or 2) lose out on sales by turning PayPal off.
any update? Shopify contacted to verify my ID and some documents for merchant verification a few days ago which I provided and they said I'm all set but then this issue for Paypal transaction via Shopify is still there so I emailed them back and they replied " Paypal is considered a 3rd party option so you would need to login into your Paypal account to make any changes or reach out to Paypal support" !?! I don't have any problem with Paypal transaction that are processed outside Shopify so this is 100% Shopify problem and they do nothing to resolve this. This is so frustrating.
They emailed me yesterday to say this:
"I am going to need to reach out to our payment processing partners about this. I will need their insight for this issue. Once I've heard back from them, I will get back to you on this ticket."
Still no update from support. my 10/30 ticket number is still active with the status as Escalated
