Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi all,
I’m currently setting up my online store which specialises in automotive paints and supplies. As far as I can see I’m currently not selling anything that is prohibited by Shopify, however we do sell a number of products that are prohibited by Evri and DPD, meaning. We cannot make use of Shopify shipping. These include paint and aerosols.
What are my options going forward with regards to shipping? We have a successful bricks and mortar store however e-commerce is very new to us, so we don’t expect to be selling huge amounts of stock right away.
Thanks for any suggestions.
First, you may need to identify the shipping companies in the UK that are suitable for your business and create an account with them. You may talk to Royal Mail, UPS, FedEx, etc.
For shipping, you have a few options:
1. You can configure flat rate shipping and use the carrier's website to process the shipments and manually update the tracking information back to the Shopify order while marking it as fulfilled.
2. You may use an app to integrate and automate the whole process.
3. If you would like to show carrier-calculated rates at checkout instead of flat rate costs, then you will need CCS enabled on your plan.
Thanks Mirdas,
Ideally I'd like to go down route number 2. Are there any apps you could recommend?
Thanks
I'll just chime in here with an app recommendation – you may want to take a look at ours, Starshipit. We integrate with the major UK carriers and give you a lot of additional shipping functionality too. Let me know if you've got any questions.
The first step is to decide on the carrier and set up an account.
You can consider using the PH Multi-Carrier Shipping Label app to integrate and automate the carrier.
