Unable to create shipping labels, need account verification

When I go to create a shipping label for an order, it gives me this error message. My fulfillment location is accurate, but a PO Box. Could this be the cause of this error? Either way, what do I need to do to "verify" it or fix the barrier.

It says my file picture is unsupported. The error is "Shipping labels are temporarily unavailable. We are verifying your account before you can purchase shipping labels. This process may take up to 24 hours." I first received this error 25 hours ago.

We are verifying your account before you can purchase shipping labels." — means that your account is still going through a verification process. This can be due to reasons like identity verification, billing information checks, or shipping setup compliance.

Using a PO Box as your fulfillment (or ship-from) address might be causing the issue. Many platforms don’t allow PO Boxes as the origin address for shipments, though they are usually fine as a return address. If your fulfillment location is set to a PO Box, try updating it to a physical address instead.

You should go into your account settings and make sure your billing details and shipping address are complete and correct. Also, check your email and account notifications — the platform may have asked you to verify your identity or submit certain documents.

Since it’s been over 24 hours, it’s a good idea to contact the platform’s support directly now. You can send them a message like: “It’s been over 24 hours since I received the message about verifying my account before I can purchase shipping labels. I’m still unable to buy labels. Can you help me resolve this?”

If you need to ship something urgently, you can use a third-party service to buy a shipping label in the meantime — options like Pirate Ship, Shippo, or going directly through USPS, UPS, or FedEx.

This problem typically arises when Shopify is confirming your account before enabling you to purchase shipping labels. Here's a step-by-step guide to fixing it:

First, Verify Your Fulfillment Address
Make sure your shipping origin is a real street address rather than a PO Box by going to Settings > Locations.

PO Boxes are not accepted as origin addresses by the majority of carriers.

Step 2: Await Confirmation
Verifying new shipping label setups on Shopify can occasionally take up to 48 hours. A brief wait is typical if you're new to this feature.

Step 3: Is It Still Blocked?
It's a good idea to get in touch with Shopify Support since it's been more than 24 hours so they can manually check and push the verification if necessary.
