Units sold and inventory

This evening I uploaded 150 units of a product on my store. The inventory quantity remaining in stock is 44, but the payouts/sales for the evening only indicated 80 items having sold. However if I go through and individually count the ordered, 96 items have been ordered. Why are these not in the total sales?
