UPS and USPS adding additional weight to my package

Our products are lightweight and are under a pound, even in the shipping box. We have each product set to .1 lbs in the shipping section but then when we select UPS or USPS through Shopify, it automatically adds another pound and we can't edit. We don't want to get charged double. Anyone know a solution?
