Hello Shopify Support,
I am a Canadian business owner with a company in Florida, USA. I am trying to connect my U.S. business bank account to my Shopify account, but I encountered an issue where it asks for an SSN, which I do not have as I am Canadian. I do have a SIN (Canadian Social Insurance Number), but that is not applicable for this purpose.
As I do not have a business registered in Canada, I am attempting to connect my personal Canadian bank account, which is a U.S. dollar account. However, when I attempt to change the bank account settings, Shopify asks for a routing number and account number. In Canada, we use a transit number and institution number instead.
Additionally, when I try to change my business type (currently set to LLC in the U.S.) to a personal in Canada, I receive an error message prompting me to connect with support.
"You should only update the business type if you have already registered the change with the U.S Government.
You'll need to contact support for assistance with updating your business type."
I have contacted support multiple times over the last few weeks, but I have not received a solution. I am now in a situation where I am about to start selling my product next week, but I still don’t have my bank account connected.
The bottom line is that I need assistance connecting my personal Canadian bank account, which holds U.S. dollars (USD), to my Shopify store.
