Using a US Shopify Payments account on a French store

Hello there 👋
A few months back I got a message from a company : WITH REACH at withreach.com that basically told me I could get rid of the many abandoned transactions due certainly to the fact that I'm based in France, but have mainly US customers.
A lot of people come to me in the chat and try many cards, but it often raises a fraud shield on their bank's side.

Their pitch is that they use a US based Shopify Payments account, link it to my payment method, so I don't have to suffer from those lost transactions.

I'm more than doubtful that this is allowed and I don't want to have any sort of problems with Shopify. Is this authorized by Shopify ?
Are there also people here with some feedback about these guys, as they would OWN the Shopify Payments account and I don't want my money to be held by some untrustworthy company.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hi @KevinTSF !

Your Shopify payments account should be only accessed by you or a finance staff that you trust funds with. Any external source is not highly advisable. Most abandoned transaction due to payment error is mostly caused by the customer's bank restrictions and not yours.

Hi, Kevin!

I can't speak to the credibility of the third-party company or how their service works, but I want to ensure that you're receiving the support you need from Shopify. Is this something you have contacted Shopify Support about?

If you're using Shopify Payments in France, international customers should be able to checkout with no issues. In some cases, customers have additional security features set up on their bank accounts, but it's unlikely that you would see instances of this frequently.

Please reach out to us via the Help Center so we can review the account with you and take a closer look at the abandoned checkouts as well to find out what might be happening.

Hi Sophia
So I actually have quite a lot of 9500 error codes for transactions (which is a fraud detection from the bank), something I understand also happens to me when I buy from a website located into another country. So this provider promise is to attach a US based Shopify Payments account to reduce this issue and capture more payments.
I also happen to have some customers complaining that even though they paid in USD their bank charged them with a separate international card transaction fee. Something that wouldn't happen with a US based payments account.

So overall this is a very important matter to me, but I'm just too afraid their promise comes with unchecked risk as I cannot find much feedback around them except for what they claim.

If you have the ability to check my abandoned checkouts that would be great but curious if there are any sort of solutions except adding alternate payment methods.

Cheers.
