Hello shopify team,

I have to insert a Utility bill, but I don't have one. I don't live on my own. What else I can use instead of Utility bill?

I live in the Czech Republic.

Thanks for your answer and have a nice rest of your day.

Hey @jl72

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Shopify Community!

I understand that you are located in the Czech Republic and are trying to submit some verification documents for Shopify Payments, but do not have a utility bill. I'd be happy to help you with this.

To add some context to this, the reason that you're required to provide verification documents about you and your business is to help identify merchants using Shopify Payments. The purpose of this is to comply with regulatory requirements designed to prevent money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes. All merchants are required to submit documents, regardless of their location etc.

With that said, you can check out the list of accepted document types for Czechia (AKA the Czech Republic) here. Other than a utility bill, you should be able to submit the following for the purpose of address verification:

  • Bank statement - dated within 6 months
  • Mortgage statement - dated within 6 months
  • Rental agreement
  • Statement from property register
  • Contract for sale of property

If you are having trouble uploading one of the above documents in your Shopify admin, then I would recommend reaching out to our support team using this link here. A member of our support team can authenticate you on the store and help you get this resolved. We don't have any account access here on the Shopify Community, so please do not attach any documents here.

Are you brand new to Shopify and just setting up your store for the first time? I would love to hear more about your business and the type of products you will be selling. We are always here to provide support if you ever get stuck, so do feel free to reach out any time with any questions you may have.
