Hi,

My shop is Canadian and I'd like to sell my products to Canadians and Americans.  What currency should I post my products in?

Thanks for your help,

Kara

Hi, @KaraK.

Are you using Shopify Payments as a payment provider on your store? If so, I recommend taking advantage of our Shopify Markets local currency feature.

When you enable this feature on your store, you'll be able to offer customers the option to view prices in their own local currency. Not only that, they'll be able to also pay for their orders and receive any refunds in their local currency too. To enable this option on your store, you'll need to firstly create a separate market for the Canada and US regions — follow this guide to add and activate a market for each country.

Once a market has been created for your domestic market of Canada and international market of the United States, you can then navigate to each market to set up local currencies. This guide has full instructions on how you can set this up within each market.

Just a note that when you enable the local currency option within the admin of your store, you'll need to then set up your storefront to allow customers to change their currencies depending on where they're browsing your website from. There are a couple of different options that will allow you to do this, as listed in our guide here. However the most popular option is to install our Geolocation app. Feel free to take a closer look at that app here in our Shopify App Store, and follow the instructions in this guide to help you fully set up the Geolocation app for your store.
