Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I have integrated SHIPPIT (Australian courier aggregator service) into my shopify store.
In order to ensure accurate figures are returned for shipping, what SHOPIFY package allows me to enter all the shipping packages dimensions? Does the BASIC package just allow weight? Is the advanced package for $79 the best option?
Appreciate any insights!
Thanks
Bob
Hi @ezyhabitat
That is a great question, thanks for reaching out here and welcome to the Shopify Community!
Being able to add package dimensions is not specific to any Shopify plans. If you navigate to the Settings > Shipping and Delivery section of your admin and scroll down to the Packages section, you can click add packages and then enter the package type, dimensions in LxWxH and weight when empty.
Depending on how the Shippit integration works on Shopify, it's likely that it will use these package details, along with the overall combined weight of the products in the order to calculate the shipping cost. This is how Shopify Shipping also works, which is included in all plans and allows you to show calculated rates in checkout, and also purchase shipping labels right from your Shopify admin. It sounds like you are in Australia? In that case, you would be able to use the Sendle carrier.
As mentioned above, you wouldn't necessarily need to be on the Advanced plan just to add package dimensions, however perhaps there are other reasons why you feel that plan would suit your business? Feel free to explain your business needs and I'd be happy to help you choose a suitable plan. You can see an overview of all plans and features on our pricing page here.
Does the Shippit integration require the Carrier Calculated Shipping API to be enabled on your store? Depending on when you started your store, third-party calculated shipping rates may not be included on the Basic Shopify plan. The monthly Shopify plan can have Carrier Calculated Shipping added for an extra monthly cost, or if you upgrade to an annual plan it is included. It is also included as standard on the Advanced plan. If the Shippit integration relies on this Carrier Calculated Shipping aspect and it is not already enabled on your store, then you could consider upgrading to an annual Shopify plan, or the Advanced plan.
