Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hello,
My store url is hopofly-bags.myshopify.com
My question is inspite of paying the Monthly plan, why does Shopify charge me 2% pre order?
At the moment, I am also using PayPal as one of the payment modes. Is that the reason why?
If I remove the PayPal payment method, will Shopify not charge me anything on my orders?
Let me know.
Thanks
Regards,
Hopofly
Hey there, @Hopofly_bags. Thanks for connecting with us in the Shopify Community with your question. It's nice to meet you!
It sounds there may be some confusion regarding the types of fees you can expect to incur using Shopify. I recommend that you refer to our Pricing Page for more information. I also have a screenshot here that explains where and why the fees you're experiencing are happening.
Each column represents a different plan, so if you're on the 'Basic' Plan, that first column would apply to you. This would mean that you can expect a 2.9% + 30 cent credit card fee on transactions in your store. There is an additional 2% fee applied when using a third party payment gateway that isn't Shopify Payments. If you are in a region where Shopify Payments is supported, consider enabling that gateway so you can avoid that extra 2% fee. Disabling PayPal in your store will not remove the fact that you'll be paying the fees; if anything, it just removes a payment option for your customers.
Do you mind if I ask why you're looking to get away from these fees? I'd love to know more about the context behind your question, and your business, so we can continue chatting about things.

Thank you for the information.
However, I am not able to see or find Shopify Payment method in the Settings.
The business Owner is in India (the website is being managed in India) but the website runs mainly in the USA, Europe etc countries. It is basically blocked in Asian countries.
Ours is a B2B business. So, when an order is placed, and payment is done via Paypal for example, we are charged the Paypal transaction fee and on top of that 2% extra on every order. That is costing us too much per order.
Is there any way we can avoid the extra 2% fee per order?
Thanks
Hey again, @Hopofly_bags. Thanks for following up with us.
In order to see if you're able to enable Shopify Payments in your store, you will need to go to 'Settings > Payments' to see the option near the top of the page. If your store is operating out of India, then you won't be able to enable Shopify Payments, as it's not supported yet in India, but that could change in the future. This means that the 2% charge you're seeing for your PayPal Transactions will persist, and you won't be able to remove it.
I understand that this information may not be ideal to hear, but I'm happy to pass along any feedback you have to our Products Team if you've like to provide some regarding this situation.

You're very welcome for the info I've provided, @Hopofly_bags. I hope you've found it helpful!
At this time, we have no information that we can share regarding when Shopify Payments may be made available in India. We're always working to get our products out to all regions, so I recommend that you keep an eye on our Change Log for any updates on when it may be available for you to use.
I've also gone ahead and let our Product Team know about this thread so they can see a use case for why having SP available in India would be helpful. We appreciate you reaching out to the Community about your question!

Why should we be charged 2% if we dont even have the option to add shopify payments in India.
Is there a way to remove these charges - if I had shopify payments - I'd use it.
But, theres no option and i have to use a third party app - i don't see why we should get charged for something that is not in our control.
Hi there, @bumblebeebaby. Thank you for taking the time to follow up on this post.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, you won't be able to avoid paying these fees if you're using a third party payment gateway. I do appreciate the feedback you've provided about having to pay these fees, and I'm happy to pass that feedback along to our Team internally on your behalf so they can be made aware. Thanks again!
