Why am I getting a server error when trying to buy a domain?

Hello, I am trying to buy a custom domain I have tried a few different domains but every time I try to buy it it gives me a server error and I cannot complete the transaction. Would love a solution to this problem.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with purchasing a custom domain, to ensure this gets resolved. To confirm I'm fully understanding, you're attempting to purchase a domain through Shopify correct?

 

If so, I'd encourage you to attempt some local troubleshooting steps to ensure it's not related to a browser error. For ease, I've gone ahead and listed these steps below for you to attempt to see if this helps to resolve: 

 

  • Clear your Cache and Cookies.
  • Access the shop in an Incognito Tab. 
  • Try accessing the shop from Another Browser (i.e Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
  • Try Another Device. 
  • Try accessing from the Shopify Mobile App. 
  • Try Restarting your device.
  • Make sure your device is Up To Date. 

 

If after attempting all of the steps outlined above, the issue persists, please Contact Us directly. This will allow for our advisor team to take a closer look and ensure it gets resolved as quickly as possible.

Hello, I've tried the tips from above and it still isn't working, I've bought a domain for a different store before and I've never had this happen.
