Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I 'successfully' integrated my Stripe account with my Shopify account; however, I have encountered an issue where only four payment methods—Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Apple Pay—are displayed on the Shopify platform. In contrast, I have enabled additional payment methods such as Link, Google Pay, Revolut Pay, Bancontact, EPS, GiroPay, iDeal, Przelewy24, Afterpay/Clearpay, and Klarna within my Stripe dashboard. After reaching out to Stripe for assistance, they conducted a thorough check, confirmed the proper configuration of my Stripe account, and assured me that the issue does not originate from their end. According to their assessment, the matter lies with the Shopify platform. I kindly seek assistance in resolving this matter and have attached a screenshot illustrating the current state of my Shopify 'payments' dashboard for reference.
I also have the exact same issue. Any update on this?
Shopify says they reserve the right to display the payment method they want, without further explanation. It sounds a bit authoritarian
It is very easy to integrate.
see this video tutorial.
I want to write an update for anyone facing this issue as well. So far I have had 8 support chat communications (4 with Shopify and 4 with Stripe) and I can share what I have learned so far. Shopify manages the payment integration, and as such also manages the payment methods that are listed. Even though the account in Stripe is yours, these things are managed by Shopify. When asked if you can be provided with access over the payment methods, Shopify insists that Stripe no longer supports Google Pay and as such they cannot do anything about it.
Then we ask Stripe if Google Pay has been discontinued and they say that it is still a payment option they provide and if you want to enable it you need Shopify to allow you to manage the payment methods. The team from Stripe also explained that because of how Shopify is managing the payment methods, you have to use either i) Payment Links, ii) Invoices or iii) Stripe Checkout (coding necessary) if you want to have Google Pay enabled. As you can see all of the options bypass Shopify as an intermediary.
What I fail to understand is why Shopify is so adamant about not enabling Google Pay on the Stripe platform. If that is just because they want to drive traffic to their payment alternative, that is great but at least make Shopify Payments available in more regions before doing stunts like that.
If you want to accept payments and subscriptions using payment methods supported by your Stripe account, you can use Easy Pie Checkout for Shopify (Stripe-powered third party checkout solution).
